Danish Arctic Institutes database contains a large historical Photo Collection, photos of our Art and Object Collection, Maps and an Audio Collection – all related to either Greenland or to the rest of the Arctic.
The historical photos document both expeditions to and everyday life in the Arctic, primarily Greenland. The oldest photos are from the 1850s and the majority of the photos from the period 1890-1960. This collection contains about 250.000 photos. The Art and Object Collection contain busts, paintings, models and expedition equipment. The Audio Collection contains interviews and songs.
Furthermore, Danish Arctic Institute also houses a large document collection, a database of myths, a map collection and a movie collection. The collections are continuously growing, and we are still in the process of digitalizing them and uploading new items on a daily basis.
