Beskrivelse
Thule Ekspedition.
Kommentar fra Knud Michelsen september 2020:
The map is probably from about 1911-13. Peary, 1911 (should be 1909) is mentioned at the top, but not Stefansson's expedition 1913-16. The expedition must have had this map with them and someone, probably Bangsted, has drawn the members' routes - but only correct until Knud together with Bangsted reaches Pelly Bay. I guess that Knud and Bangsted has drawn the routes at Pelly Bay and Bangsted taken the map with him home. We can see, that Knud's route is not correct. No magnetic pole, no sojourn at King William's Land and he go's to Siberia from Cape Prince of Wales before going to Nome. We see also that Freuchen follows the route stipulated for him - via Devon and Ellesmere - but in reality he and his followers were fetched by "Søkongen".
So, this map shows how they thought they would get home and how Knud imagined the great sled journey to be.
